What makes the Stumpjumper EVO the ultimate trail bike?

Product Details

In order to bring EVO fun to the masses, we took our FACT 11m carbon frame (yes, the same one as the S-Works), dressed it with a bullet-proof SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain and a tough-as-nails set of alloy wheels, and set it loose to shred unsuspecting trails everywhere.

  • All the travel in the world is useless without the proper shock tuning and kinematics. For the new Stumpjumper EVO design, we prioritized kinematic performance. Applying lessons learned while developing the Enduro, then following that with more than 1,000 hours of field and suspension lab development, we’ve not only improved the pedaling performance of the Stumpjumper, but we’ve made it more capable, agile, and lively. We increased anti-squat, so the suspension better resists pedal bob, and we further improved bump performance on square-edge hits. Bottom line? This thing shreds trails, not legs.
  • The S-Sizing geometry of the new Stumpjumper EVO is our most progressive yet. Long, low, slack, short offset fork, steeper seat tube angle – these are requirements for modern progressive riding. But not everyone jibs the same way, which is why the geo on the new Stumpjumper EVO is fully adjustable with six different settings. You can adjust the BB height by 10mm, you can adjust your head angle by two-degrees, and you can make these adjustments independently of each other. Finally, if you want to go full-party mullet-mode, the EVO lets you run a 27.5-inch rear wheel mated with a 29-inch front.
  • Rider-First Engineered™ frames use a size-specific approach to ride characteristics that ensures benchmark handling and flawless performance, regardless of frame or rider size. Whether you’re a jump-happy grom riding an S1, or a DH-fiend giant in need of the lengthy S6, you’ll experience the same ride traits – rail-sharp cornering and balanced front and rear stiffness – at the lightest-possible weight.
  • We introduced the SWAT™ door on the Stumpjumper in 2016, adding room IN your frame for those “oh sh**t” necessities like pumps and spare tubes, and immediately rendering jersey pockets redundant. With the new Stumpjumper, we have increased the volume and added a SWAT™ Bladder, giving you an extra 22oz of water storage – the same size as a small water bottle – hidden in your downtube.

I'M BEING CRITICAL

I purchased a 2023 Stumpjumper Evo Pro. It's a great trail bike! Pedals great and can handle single blacks with ease. I bought this specific bike for its adjustability, and aftermarket customization. What do I mean? 6 diffrent geo settings. Run mixed wheel or full 29er. In mixed wheel WRP makes a yoke to put it in a 29er suspension geo. Cascade makes a link that gives it 8mm more rear travel and changes the suspension progression. I just put a Fox factory 38 on it, and OMG! I just ordered a EXT-E-storia. Now this bike will be full on an enduro weapon. I'm so happy with my purchase! Too bad Specialized is phasing the EVO out! I'm almost tempted to buy an EVO frame and save it for some day in the future.

Once you go Stumpy, it’s hard to go back

It’s my first Stumpjumper and it feels amazing; it really helps you overcome your perceived limits and boosts your confidence, which great yet maybe dangerous. Overall a great bike, I recommend it for trail lovers. It also pedals well uphill as long as you do not force it.

Great bike, not so great rear hubs.

I love this bike, it's fun to ride and and feels locked in.. however I wish specialized used a slightly higher quality rear hub. After 2 months of consistent riding, the rear hub has stopped engaging. This is the same hub that came on my specialized status 160 which also had a rear hub fail after 3 months. For the money you spend on this bike you wouldn't think you would be waiting weeks to get riding again only after a couple months since buying it new. Other than that, the bike is amazing.

Rides Like a WEAPON!

I'm 37, been riding for 12 years, I've had two Stumpjumpers before purchasing my new 2023 Stumpjumper Evo Comp carbon. This bike is an absolute weapon, feels indestructible, the geometry has changed so much compared to my 2018 stumpy, the changes are welcomed. I couldn't imagine owning anything else accept a specialized bike, they are unbelievably well built, and the 33% of sales are unmatched by other bike manufacturers. Thanks you Specialized.. Keep it up!!

Love my Stumpy

The shop I purchased the bike sold me a S1, when I should have been on a S2/S3. The bike is a bit small, but I’ve had the best time on it. Downhill at the bike park, on the trail, or even just biking around town, the experience has been wonderful.

Caveat. I'm 43 and this my 1st full suspension bike but it has exceeded my hopes and expectations. Smooth, quiet, playfull, reassuring and fast. Damn fast. Climbs way better than my old hardtail and just loves pointing downhill (good thing the code brakes are so good). Instant confidence and skill upgrade. Shock setup as per Spesh website feels great. Doppio colour is much darker in reality. At this sale price it was a steal. More bike than I currently need if I'm honest but I will accept the challenge of trying to lift my game to deserve it.

Love at First Ride!

Had my heart set on a Specialized Enduro, but when I saw the Stumpy EVO in an S3 (My size) and did more research on the specs; it was over. The overwhelming great reviews closed the deal. I raced downhill as well dirt bikes when I was younger, and I still enjoy jumping and bombing down rocky technical descents. This EVO is fast up and down the hills. First time riding a 29er and what a difference in speed. The bike is incredibly balanced, looks amazing and begs to go fast. I am 5’8” and the bike fits like a glove. Before my first ride, I dialed-in the bike with the handlebars at its top of the steerer tube, the seat further back on the rails and the Horst pivot at the “High” setting. After a few climbs and descents, the bike began to break-in and came alive! Very playful, fast and precise! Highly recommend the bike and made the right choice over the Enduro.

Great bike!

Overall, this is a fantastic bike that rides great, but the biggest selling point for me is how well it climbs. If you set your sag right it compares to a hard tail in climb quality. Other wise, I have few things to complain about after riding this bike for about a month now. There is one minor issues: The paint feels unreliable. I have already scratched it in two places, both scratches proceeding very minor scrapes. I don’t think this alone merits 4 stars, and if the paint alone is all I can complain about, then the has to be a good bike.

Nice bike

Very nice bike. Climbs well, descends well. The water bottle in the SWAT box has a rubber gasket that goes over the top of the outside lid. The SWAT tool on the water bottle cage slides out after you flip open the cover.

Very easy transaction. Shipped to my LBS and set up for me. Stumpy EVO climbs better than I expected and descends like I hoped it would. I have the Sand color in S3 and I’m 5”9. Feels right. I have an Epic EVO as well in M. Both bike feel great and height recommend either one.

Bike arrived in great shape,

Bike arrived in great shape, assembled no problem. Only issue was the rear derailer need to be indexed .. Riden the bike twice so far and it has been Great! The ride is plush, and it climbs very well.. it's not as nimble as my 2013 epic, but it's also way less harsh on the body :)

The entire process for this

The entire process for this purchase has been great. Great customer service. Great delivery- not little touches included to help with the assembly. As far as the bike- I mean, it is an absolute beast. And gosh darn pretty. Great on the technical trails that are filled with rocks and roots and never flat.

Heck yes!

The bike performs amazingly! Coming from a 2018 SJ 650b Comp AL in size larger, I went for an S3. I'm 5'10" and it was so hard trying to know if I should go S3/S4. The geo numbers showed the S3 was larger than I have been riding so I went with that and I am very glad that I did. I felt right at home on the bike and I had to keep telling myself on my first descents to slow down...I don't know this bike yet, but it was so good I just kept plowing and jumping. Bonus is that the satin harvest gold looks stunning...especially in the forest. Buy if you can! Oh...it climbs extremely well too!

Process ordering online was very easy. Bike shipped to our local dealer - Kegels and was ready in about 1 week. Excellent service, as always, as this is my third Specialized bike in my stable. One note, double check the sizing as they tend to run larger than the sizing chart shows. You want your height to be at the very top of the range not in the middle or low end.
