Great tires

My original tires labled flat jacket punture proff protection lasted almost 7 or 8 years and only got punctured after they started to rubber rot and crack. The tread lasted thier whole life. I feel like using the term puncture proof in there name makes ppl purposely try to prove it wrong. The new ones i have not tried. And the tread is not the same. I'm driven away from the name change but i assume ppl will do anything to prove something or someone wrong. Love em. Never had a tire last a year b4. Let alone 7 or 8. I dont cut or carve my bike when i break. But i have ran over glass manny times in those years.

Flak Jacket puncture protection just a marketing gimmick

Don't buy this tire based on the clever marketing of "Flak Jacket". It does not stop punctures and there is no warrantee on the supposed protection at all. Tire was on the bike for only 3 months when a very thin metal scrap punctured it. left me stranded on my ride. A visit back to the bike shop and I find out there is no warrantee against all of the sensational claims of "Flak Jacket". I got suckered into buying an expensive name brand that is no better and probably worse than any other basic tire that I've purchased.

Exactly what I expected. Great

Exactly what I expected. Great off road unless really muddy. Amazing on hard pack, rocks, grass and small gravel. Low rolling resistance, so fast. Accidentally went through a 4’ deep flooded creek, and these had no trouble getting me through it!! Flak Jacket makes them basically bulletproof. Lots of traction on the sides and can run on low pressure when needed.

Good tire, bad packaging

The tire is just what I wanted. Unfortunately it arrived warped, I did ship to store and it seemingly arrived with no packaging. I took it anyway hoping the warping would go away once installed and inflated but unfortunately it's still noticably warped and causes a bumpy ride.

Great on the towpath

Bought these cause I ride the I&M canal, got 9&1/2 years out of the hemispheres which are great on pavement no complaints. Crossroads have Defiantly improved my confidence on loose gravel, good traction on dirt. They have kept my Expedition Sport rolling.

Withstood gravel, snow, ice, mud and tree branches.

Got 2 Crossroad tires on my hybrid bike and took them on an 18 miles ride along the Des Plaines River Trail in Chicago in mid-February. The gravel trail had snow, ice, mud and tree branches and I was impressed how well the tires felt and handled on my ride - sturdy/solid.They really took my bike/ride a level up. Happy with my purchase.

1800 miles on pavement and dirt roads. Zero trouble. At the rate they are wearing I would expect to get at least 3000 miles before replacement.

Tires came packaged in a

Tires came packaged in a plastic bag so the tires were creased on arrival, but they look fine after being inflated. The centre blocks on the Crossroads tire are a bit more high-profile than depicted in the website renders. Some "real-life" pictures and videos would help customers get a true sense of the tread depth. Bought during buy one get one free promotion, otherwise probably would have gone with different tire.

Good tire for the price.

Good tire for the price. Comparable to a Bontrager H series. Today's tires have thinner walls, but I guess it helps with weight and ease of installation. Make sure you check direction of rotation of tire vs. wheel and align them.

These are good for a

These are good for a variety of surface conditions including pavement, gravel, snow and ice. They resist puncture reasonably well and are a lot easier to mount and faster and more comfortable to ride than the armadillo version. I've used these for many years and keep coming back to them.

Apt name for a very good tire

I have ridden these tires on pavement, crushed stone greenways, heavy gravel roads as well as light mud on dirt trails. They are truly a crossroads tire. I have not felt uncomfortable on any surface yet. Obviously they are not ideal for any one of the aboved mentioned surfaces, however they are a great compromise for an old Turing bike that I have converted to ""all road"". I only have about 400 miles on these so I can't really comment on wear yet, however the rear still has barely discernable nibs and the front looks new. I'm a tough grader and not knowing how long lasting they are I only gave them four stars.

Great tires for the Crosstrail

I put these on my 2009 Crosstrail Sport to replace my old set of Borough XCs (which I was never particularly impressed with). I've only put about 20 miles on these so far, mostly on a rail trail (primarily quarry process). Some portions of the trail are large loose stones and we also hit some deep mud and they handled it all remarkably well. They did cut straight to the bottom of the deep mud (what do you want from 38mm tires) but they didn't slip and I was able to ride in and out every time. Also took them on some asphalt roads and they ride very smooth on the center tread like the boroughs did, but with more reassuring tread grooves for riding hard on slick surfaces. I'll see how they wear as we rack up miles, but very impressed so far!

They do it all

I put these on my single speed commuter for all around use, but especially for having fun on gravel roads and wooded paths. They grip exceptionally well around corners and at higher speeds in pouring rain, roll smooth over most rocky terrain, cracked roads, and dirt. I even rolled away from a small pot hole today. My third pair of Specialized tires, they seem to put out some super rugged, well performing tires for the money. Don't hesitate to give these a try!
