The Ground Control Grid 2Bliss Ready T7 Soil Searching uses an extremely versatile tread pattern which can be used from cross country race to trail, it rolls fast with exceptional amounts of confidence and grip. Our Block-In-Block design uses a taller adaptable inner block to pierce the ground and claw for traction. The larger outer structure supports the inner block for additional speed, traction, support and stable handling. The GRID casing provides a light and supple trail construction with additional sidewall protection for durability and sidewall stability. To top off this build we use our T7 compound to maximize grip and damping. Teaming with Soil Searching, we designed this tan sidewall version to mimic colors in nature to connect our tire even more with the trail. Proceeds benefit Soil Searching which feeds the roots of mountain biking by sponsoring trail builders, hosting dig days, spearheading fundraisers, and providing trail development and maintenance grants.

  • Casing: 60 TPI, light and durable XC/Trail construction with additional sidewall protection and stability.

  • Bead: Foldable.

  • Butyl wrapped bead = 2Bliss Ready.

  • Compound: GRIPTON® T7.

  • 29 x 2.35", PSI 25-50, approximate weight 870g.

Best XC trail tires

These tires are hands down the most versatile tires in the game. I've used them for both XC and trail, and no matter where I take them I'm moving fast! I love the extra protection on the side. I've had them the whole summer and there's almost no wearing on the tread. Low price, long lasting, and good for a variety of uses. Only thing I'd ask for is slightly chunkier side knobs for turns.

Great grip and showing almost no wear

Used this tire front and back on my Scott hardtail and about 40 pounds on a 300 mile mtb ride in Idaho. Lots of sharp rocks and sand and creek crossings. Held up beautifully. Handled the snd and sandy slate well. Great cornering. No flats even though I rode through stuff that I was sire would tale the sidewall out. Got it home, washed the bike and can hardly tell the tires had been ridden. Also put the same set on my tero ebike.

Ground Control soil searching: great grip but terrible casing

Specialized tires have been my go to for a couple of years. The butcher/T9/Grid Trail front and eliminator/T7/grid trail or T9/GridGravity rear combo are great beefy grippy tires that last and ride great. So I tried the GroundControl for my transition Spur. I got the soils searching, Grid casing for front and rear. They roll well and grip is really good but they have no side wall support. They are scarily squirmy at lower pressures, especially on grippy off camber sections and bottom out so easily. At trail speed I have had them fold over on corners and small 2ft drops. So I tried running them at higher psi then I normally do but they are like trampolines, bouncing all over the place. I suspect this may have to do with the soil searching sidewalls because the I can imagine the regular grid casing is this flimsy. I am a heavier rider so this maybe more pronounced for me, but it is so bad I am taking the tires off after a dozen rides because the casing performance is just so bad

Dig the Ground Control

Not going to lie, I originally bought the tires for the color. But dang I love these tires. Get up to speed fast, rolls east and grips great. Great trail bike/single track tire. Running this on a 23’ Stumpy, front and rear.

Grips ‘n Rips

I run these front and rear on a Orbea Occam (specialized, I love y’all, but your bikes cost too much). Perfect tire for Florida trails as a good compromise between rolling resistance and grip, and they don’t wash out in sand (within reason). They even handled Black Mountain in Pisgah with no problems. P.S.- bring back the alloy Epic.

Excellent Trail / XC tyre

These tyres in 2.35/ T7 compound/Grid make for an excellent and surprisingly fast rolling trail tyre. Very fast ! They are almost XC in speed yet have enough general bike to handle blue to black trails. The casing lacks support and the edge knobs lack bite in heavier/gnalier terrain but that is not their purpose. Adding Cushcore allows them to be pushed somewhat harder if required. As a comparison they have better feel, precision and grip than say a Maxxis Rekon and roll faster too. They are a step below the control provided by say a Maxxis DHR2 in maxterra but really not all that far behind. Very impressed.

Great rubber

This tire just about exceeded my expectations. After trying a few different front tires, the Ground Control Grid T7 provides reliable grip, great rolling speed, and the casing has so far held up against jagged rocks, wet roots, and some smaller drops. I pair this with a T7 Grid Fast Trak on the back for a very smooth rolling rubber setup on my Ibis Ripley here in the southwest. From town rides to the high country, this tire performs. Would recommend, especially for the price!

Call me crazy

Call me crazy, but I am running these front and rear on a Stumpjumper EVO Carbon Comp. From the gnarliest trail in Pisgah to the fastest flow I can find. I can hit any of it at full speed and not even question what traction I may have. They grip and will hookup. They are fast both up and down. I absolutely love these tires.

This is my third set

This is my third set of Ground Control tires. For the riding I do they are perfect. (East Coast, Wet Rocks and Roots, Lots of Pine Needles) Fast Rolling, Great all-round traction. Took me awhile to get used to the white walls, but I think they look good, my Stumpjumper Pro., and it is for a good cause.

Make sure you dial in your tire pressure with these!

My first ride with these I had set the tire pressure at around 20 psi and I felt that they didn't have much grip. But after some deduction I figured out I should be at around 16 psi and that has made a big difference. The grid casing is actually quite sturdy and thick so it can handle lower tire pressure pretty well. I would have thought 16 psi was way too low for a 29x2.35 tire but I was wrong. Now that I've ridden them for 2 months I can say they work great for my riding (dry midwest). They don't grip like a DHF but that's ok. They are noticeably fast rolling and have enough grip for me to still have confidence on hard trails. Super versatile tire. One major downside is they were 10/10 difficulty to mount onto my wheels. It was so hard omg. I had to use a tire lever to just put the first side on... A super gorgeous tire too. Cleanly designed and the tread even looks kinda cool (if that's possible?)

Fast Downcountry Tire

Wanted a faster and grippy front tire for most of local mostly XC trails, tire doesn't disappoint. Tracks really well on hard pack and loose pebbles. Really like the tan sidewall too.

Grippy and fast

I recently got an ultra light XC hardtail that came with Aspen rear and mezcal front, but I was getting bumped around and rattled after the front tire lost traction several times in the loose and dusty Utah conditions. I switched to these and it completely changed my bike for the better. FAR more grip, no washouts yet, and a much more comfortable ride. As a result, I'm faster on everything except for tarmac and pristine gravel.

I love these tyres. Just bought another set. Super-grippy on wet rocks and roots, and hook-up well everywhere else. Very well made with solid side walls and versatile tread pattern. Very easy to bead and inflate tubeless. Hopefully these become a regular item in the catalogue. I use these on my rigid singlespeed across a range of terrain and they work for me.

GOAT tire

Quiver killer, do it all tire. The ground control is surprisingly light, exceedingly grippy and predictable, and delightfully fast rolling. It's at home on gnarly trails and even some XC race courses. The ground control is endlessly impressive; especially in the softer T7 compound. Highly recommend

fast & fun

I switched to these after trying some Eliminator T9s as a rear. These were a great upgrade for my riding style. They provide a faster rolling tread and the T7 isn't quite as tacky as the T9, yet still keeps you connected to the trail. I've tested these through rocks, roots, mud and and even a little snow and they've held their own. Big S is on to something with these new compounds, and you can't beat the price!

One tire to rule them all

Amazing grip, surprisingly fast rolling and reliable like a best friend. I don’t feel slowed down at all when comparing these to my past racing Ralphs. The compound is pretty soft for XC tires, but you have enough tread, that they’ll last long enough. I’ve had really bad experiences with control casing so I wouldn’t dare use anything without grid. The extra weight is worth it, and I cannot stress this enough. I personally can’t see needing anymore grip than this tire provides. If feels more aggressive than previous generation. I haven’t tested these in mud, snow, or wet. They were a little tougher to mount than other specialized, schwalbe, and maxxis tires I’ve had, but still didn’t need anything beyond a floor pump and some love.
