Feel your bike come alive on the open road with the new Alpinist CL II, featuring the lightest, best-handling clincher rims we have ever made, elevated with the performance of a tubeless system. The brand new Alpinist CL II now brings mountain-taming performance slightly closer to Earth with a carefully selected build designed to let riders take full advantage of the low rim and spoke mass.

The Alpinist CL II utilizes the same rim as the Alpinist CLX II. They react to even the slightest increase in power with immediate acceleration and carve the purest lines in the corners, yet they can also handle almost double the impact standards of every certifying body. The result is a 1375-gram tubeless wheelset with an otherworldly ride quality designed for real-world road pressures.

The Alpinist CL II utilizes components curated to keep you rolling and rolling fast. The DT Swiss 350 hubs, featuring their Star Ratchet drive system, are reliable and easy to service, while 24 DT Swiss CompRace Straightpull spokes front and rear, laced to the rims with their alloy Pro Lock nipples, are synonymous with reliability and can be obtained at any bike shop.

The reduced rolling resistance of a tubeless setup is undeniable, as are the benefits of improved handling and incredible puncture protection. It took the most extensive and demanding engineering and testing program we’ve ever undertaken. FAST!

I had a set of aluminum rims weighing around 1500g and was debating whether carbon rims could make a difference. Now, I’m a firm believer. I replaced the old rims on my SL8 Roubaix, and I noticed that these wheels keep rolling effortlessly. The most significant improvement was climbing steep terrain—I barely felt any resistance when accelerating, and there was no effort required to start moving on a steep grade. After 2000 miles, I'm still loving them.

Wow!

I was skeptical about how much difference a set of wheels could make, but now I'm sold! These replaced the stock boat anchors that came on my Tr*k Domane SL5. 1100 miles on the wheels so far. 1) Not super aero, but will still catch a cross wind. 2) Acceleration: Felt a big difference when I put these on the bike. 3) Tire mounting: I'm running 28s with tubes on these (Panaracer Gravelking Slicks) and find they are tolerable for mounting. 4) Hubs: Need to upgrade the ratchet to the higher tooth version. 5) Pinch Flats: Finding I need to run my pressure at 90psi (which is appropriate given my weight (200lbs), tire size and tubes to avoid pinches. 6) Comfort: Find the wheels to be compliant but yet nice and stiff given I'm a big guy. One thing to know before you build them up...the serial number is under the rim tape and you need it to register these for the warranty.

Fixing Flats Is Troublesome

These wheels ride nicely! However, if you get a flat tire you are in for some trouble. It is nearly impossible for any normal human to get a tire on or off these rims. I am extremely disappointed in these wheels after owning and still owning other model Roval wheels. Specialized/Roval - What happened here with these wheels?
