The All Condition Armadillo Elite is the most flat-resistant tire available. Impressively though, it has performance characteristics that far exceed many competitor's race tires. We've given it a tread pattern that offers excellent all-weather traction, and newly-sourced materials for the best puncture protection possible. In terms of ride quality, our GRIPTON® compound is surpassed by none. It provides low rolling resistance and the ultimate in dry and wet condition traction. Without hyperbole, it's the best flat-resistant, high-performance tire that we've ever made.

Check other low reviews for this tire-- the compound seems great at preventing flats, but if sidewalls give out too early to get full use of the tire, you're trading one issue for another. One sidewall gave out just at the top of a very steep descent yesterday. *maybe* 1500km on the tires. No flats, but that's a pretty poor lifespan.
I was touring in Spain with standard high quality tires and kept getting flats. In Granada I picked up a pair of Armadillos and have never looked back. I have subsequently toured repeatedly with these and the only flat I had was a nail in the tire. They also ride very well. Unless I'm doing a triathlon, these are the only tires I use.
I like the free shipping via Fedex. Haven’t used the product yet.
I’ve been using Armadillo Elites since 2005 and have never flatted on them.
Bottom line: I would buy these tires again. Details: Rear tire lasted about 8 months/2,000 miles. I made it home before the rear tire went flat so I'm impressed by the anti-flat technology (I wasn't even aware that I had a flat until the next day when it was completely flat--not sure what caused it. A year/approx. 3,400 miles later, I'm still riding on the front tire. I ride mostly on cement or asphalt roads at a nearby reservoir--mostly smooth surfaces but with occasional thistles/other hazards. I expect to ride increasingly on gravel surfaces and will replace tires before doing that. These are superior to other tires I've owned.
J'ai remplacé les pneus turbo par des Armadilo, plus résistants.
These tires ride long distances and hold up well on gravel and glass embedded roads!
10’000km and only one puncture which was a big old rusty nail that would have punctured a car tyre. I ride on the horribly deteriorating Johannesburg roads and have hit many potholes without any consequence. These are simply the most bulletproof tyres you’ll ever fit.
with well over 10,000 km on these tires I have yet to have a puncture. I am very impressed and on my second set. I won't ride in urban areas on anything else. Absolutely can recommend.
With a claim of the most flat-resistant tire available, I would have expected more. Emphasis on "resistant" meaning you can still get a flat. It's not resistant to upholstery staples. I got a flat from where one went right into the tread.
Had these tyres when purchased my turbo road bike,no punctures and very hard-wearing, happy to replace with same. Best all round tyres I've used.
Best tyres if you want to avoid flats.
I bought 2 Armadillo Elite tires 1 month ago. Rode them no more than 200kms. Bad News : A big bubble appeared on my rear tire. I deflated it a little 75 psi from 90 psi and rode on it back home. After 3 kms, the buble has disappeared. No explosion, just a small air leak sound for a second. I was going to stop but the tire was still inflated… since the darkness was coming, I continue hoping for the best. So I rode another 7 kms and Good News ; the tire remained inflated. Looking at it back home, I found a 1 cm ( 3/8 inch) slot in the middle of the tread, parallel to the tire. A bit of rubber was gone. I inflated it back to 90 psi and after 5 days everything seems ok. Surprinsing!!! I was on my way to ride and test it today and…. Bad News: There is a bubble on the front tire. So are the tires good? It seems the anti-flat technology works great. However, on the manufacturing side, not quite sure… Am I the only one who experienced this kind of situation?
Great tire. I have rode them for 3 years now. Great durability and wear.
My second pair of these tires. My first pair has 4000 miles on them. Front tire is still showing the center bead so I’m not changing it any time soon. The rear tire is still showing the west marker so probably 500 to 1000 more miles before changing out. I bought new tires because they were on sale through Specialized. Theses tires have very good grip and roll. I’ve had some high speed descents, 47+mph, with decent cornering and the tires handled it without a hiccup. I’m hesitant on saying this as not to jinx myself but I haven’t had a flat with these tires. I see a few little cuts and slices but none hot to the tubes. Great tires.
Retiree, that has ridden on these tires the last four to five years, not one flat. Ride about dozen times a year about 30/50 kl, sometimes on gravel back roads. On previous non armadillo tires I was constantly repairing flats. These tires are now showing many cracks up the centre…still no flats! Ordered same tires. Would definitely recommend the Armadillos. Not only that, they ride very smoothly, it is obvious I do less peddling than those I ride with.
So far, nice tires. With the additional size (28c) I'm able to run lower pressure. Really smooths out the ride.
Quality tires. Sometimes a bit hard to get on the rim. Good puncture resistance and long wearing.
I’ve been using this tire since 2002 I love them haven’t had a flat in years
Llevo 3 años con éstos neumáticos en ambas ruedas para entrenar y no he tenido ningún pinchazo aún. A éste ritmo los voy a tener que cambiar por desgaste antes de que pinchen
I rode Gatorskins and they are good tires. When a flat does happen, have fun trying to take the Skins off. 🤬 Chad Terry recommended these and WOW!! The ride is much smoother and no flats. Armadillos from now on.
I've ridden this product for over 100,000 miles. Best puncture protection and wear (7K miles per year) I have ever had. I have ridden all brands, and this one gets me through the season with less than 1 flat per year. I don't need to worry about having multiple spares or tube patches in my saddle seat.
I got a flat the FIRST day I put these tires on. While I was being extra cautious to avoid glass. I got the flat fixed, and the NEXT day I got a flat. I got that flat fixed. Two days later I got a flat in BOTH tires. These tires do no protect well at all in normal city conditions. Prior to trying out these Armadillos I used Finnci and Continental Ultra Sport. I rode those tires in L.A. for a year and did not get a flat. I rode in Chicago for YEARS, and would get a flat once in a while. Not every day like in these Armadillos.
Purchased this 700c 32mm tire under bike shop recommendations as I commute to work early mornings, or the rotation shift where I leave work at midnight. No punctures, but the rubber compound began splitting and cracking through the edge of sidewall, and throughout the tread sipes "in less than a years usage", which is approximately 700km. Still have the receipt, and photos and videos, to prove my point. $180 + HST. As a father of 4, and legal guardian of 2 more, this was a frustrating, expensive, disappointment, from a distinguished cycling brand. Sorry, your bike frames are great, your mips helmet saved my head couple years ago, but the craftsmanship and product quality and durability of this tire cannot be recommended with confidence, for the price. Heartbreaking.
If you don't like flats, then get this tire. Definitely my favorite skinny tire.
I’ve written these for so many years and so many conditions it’s ridiculous. At least 15 years different compounds Construction, the best flat, resisting tire that’s ever been made for a ROAD BIKE. Will go through the entire life of the tire without one flat. Bay Area, central California to San Diego. A little slippery under wet conditions. That’s the only drawback.
Good quality. Lasts over 2000 miles on tandem
The Armadillo is the only tire I will use!
Best tires ever. Greatly reduced my number of flats bikepacking and biketouring. Rode NC to Maine on the ECG without a flat. Just Ride to the Florida Keys without a puncture, even going over 30* bridges. My husband, after two flats in the Keys has now switched to Armadillo tires.
I ride virtually flat-free, use nothing else.
Great tires! Much easier to install than Continentals!
Quality product
Seem good! It was time for new tires. I went with these as they seem durable and I live in NYC. I've had them for one month and they're doing the job.
These are the only tires my husband will use. He usually gets around 4,000 miles out of them. The last set had 6,000 miles on them.
Excelentes
Knock on wood, I have never flatted on these tires.
Am 75 year old male. Started riding 1993. Have went thru many tires in my cycling. These tires are by far the best I have used. Have 7,103.5 miles on these. Waiting to have a flat so I can buy another set.Highly recommend these tires. No flats on these tires. Waiting. Lol
AAAAAAA, very solid and tough tire but without losing speed, bought 3 sets for my road bikes
I was tired of getting flats while touring in
I love these tires. The Specialized Armadillo All Condition tires take on glass, goatheads and most annoying, radial tire wire. I will eventually get a flat as the tire wears, and find multiple glass fragments and goatheads impeded in the tire. All those flats that would have occurred with other tires, were prevented by Armadillos.
Excellently tires! I chose the 32 size to have more grip and more comfortable ride.
Put 2000+ miles on them before tread wore off. Not a single flat. I Ride in the desert of Texas, plenty of sharp stuff and ruff roads, these things are tuff! Just ordered another pair and will continue to ride them till I stop or they stop makin em. 10/10
Goat heads don't stand a chance against Armadillo tires. I was averaging 1 flat per ride... haven't flatted in the last 12 rides.
After buying these several years ago, I have never had a flat, and will only buy these now.
Simply the best all around tire you can purchase. We have these on our tandem and road bikes and have never had a flat in many years. Very smooth riding with lots of grip in all conditions.
nice ride on the 30mm tire
Very tough, great rolling resistance, and a life saver with wet or muddy conditions.
Very heavyweight tires a little rough ride but seems sturdy will see if it avoids flats
I put these on my Creo SL after the 3rd flat with the Turbo Pros it came with. Not one flat since in over 1500 miles commuting, light gravel and all around just going as fast as that thing will carry Clydesdale me. They look a little worn, but pretty sure I can get through the season on them. They don't ride as smooth as the original Turbo Pros, but I HATE fixing flats. I'd like them to be tubeless, but they are easy to install and the tube just isn't a hassle when you never have to deal with it. They don't feel heavy on nice carbon wheels, so all good.
This tires go on all my training wheels. They keep making better every time, better rolling resistance lighter easier to put on and knock on wood no flat tires for 6 years.
so far tough tire better than continental
If you want to say goodbye to flats, this is the tire for you!
Greetings. The Armadillo Specialized Elite is the toughest and most reliable puncture resistant tires one can put on their bike! Made with Kevlar, which stops bullets, these tires prevent so many items from punctures that I ride without flats for months on end! I have not used any other tires in the last six years and will continue to purchase and use only these tires on my yearly rides, up to 4,000 miles per year.
I've been riding 40 miles a week on these tires for years. Very rarely have a flat. I'm very happy with their performance.
I have bought several sets of these tires. They are awesome. On my most recent pair of tires, I had no flats riding for about 2500 miles. I finally wore the tread off and am getting a new pair.
These tires are bulletproof, they offer plenty of grip and don't puncture or take any damage even if you ride over a pothole.
I just rode the Whiskey Rebellion Gravel. It had a lot of rough gravel and some crazy fast downhills. I thought it was going to have more paved roads but I was wrong or I would have left on the wider tires. These tires performed well and were bomb proof. They are fast on pavement as well.
Early days yet but it seems good. The tread is enough for giving confidence on gravel tracks. I have used them previously and like the good wet weather grip and long life.
I have been using these tires for years. The only flat I have had was a pinch flat after an ill-timed bunny hop over or rather into a pothole (not a tire failure). They take away the massive nuisance of flats ruining a grand day out. My Specialized Roubaix was a gravel bike before the genre was invented and these tires were born to be worn by it.
Have ridden these for 5000 miles. No Flats. Not much wear either. Not the plushest ride, but I'll gladly trade a bit harsher ride for no flat flats.
Bought these 4 years ago and haven't had one flat. They are starting to get weather cracked so I am replacing them. I've put a lot of miles on them and my first few hundred yards from my house is on gravel, so they are tough tires. Regularly rode 25 miles round trip to my office and these tires have been great.
The tires are just what we wanted and expected
Great tire. Well made. This tire will stand up to the worst road conditions and not puncture.
I have ridden on the All Condition Armadillo Elite tires for 10 years now and I won't use any other ones. These tires are superb in quality and performance and limit the amount of flats to zero when used. I have been able to ride for months on end and not experience a puncture while using these Kevlar tires.
This tire lasts, but how long it lasts depends on what you ride through. There is a lot of road debri, including auto glass on my current route, which I've ridden through this season a total of 30 times. Finally, just yesterday I got a flat on my way home, and after fixing it, I got another flat 5 miles later. Weird. And I inspected the tire when initially changing it and I didn't see anything. But this morning I got the bike up on my stand, took the tire off and inspected it thoroughly. Turns out glass imbeds, and then the rubber can close around it so you don't notice it unless you are really looking. But even then the glass doesn't puncture. Turned out one of these shards had worked its way in, and then I had continually rode it further into the tire where it finally barely poked through. This is on me, not the tire. Would buy again, but I will also be going back to my route with a broom!
Finally had to take my first pair off after 2,000+ miles (no true idea but that's a minimum and likely many more). They had actually corded out in a couple of spots (some hard braking) and had various rips, tears and gouges - but never lost any air. I took pictures - too bad you can't post them here. Good grip in varied conditions - not a lot of wet riding but the few times I was caught out, felt very good. On a second pair and hoping that they are as good - and safe as the first pair.
I rode my first set until each tire had several rips and tears. (About 3500 miles) Still did not get a flat.
These are the only tires I will use . A couple grams more in weight doesn't make that big of difference to me. They are fantastic in all conditions.
I installed these Armadillo Elite tires on my 2017 Diverge Elite. This is my second set of tires on this bike replacing the Espoire Sport tires that it came with. I ride a mixture gravel trail and road about 50 miles a week. The roads around here are pretty good but there are a lot of aging asphalt surfaces that are quite rough. The Espoire tires were really good I was actually considering just ordering another round of them because I didn't expect any tire could be much better. I am amazed with these Armadillos. There is a noticeable reduction in rolling resistance but somehow also a noticeable improvement in traction and ride comfort. They even sound different on the gravel; much quieter almost can't hear the gravel under them. Uneven and rough paved surfaces and small rocks and debris are almost completely unnoticeable. I'm very impressed with how these tires perform on the road and the gravel. They also look very nice on my Diverge; it looks like it should.
These tires have been bullet proof so far. Close to 1k miles on them and haven't had to worry about a thing
Road riding!
Gives me a great ride!
Its time to replace them on my roubaix. Not one flat on my touring trip from Canada to San Fran. I did a tour 8 day tour through the desert in death valley... I did 28 miles on gravel/sand and was the only one in the team to not get a flat. These tires are incredible.
I put a set of these on our Trek Tandem. We loved the ride from the very first mile and they are still ride great after hundreds of miles. Now we have a Santana Tandem with 26"" wheels and the closest Specaliazed tire we could find is the Armadillo Nimbus. The nimbus is a very good tire but the All Condition rolls much better and faster. I would buy the All Condition in a heart beat for the Santana Tandem 26' wheel as soon as they came out with this tire.
I commute in NYC, which is hell on tires, but these are as dependable as they come. I now have them on all of my bikes. DON'T MESS WITH THEM!
Great training tire. I have put +3,000 miles on them and I haven't had a single flat. Also they outperformed any other puncture resistant tire I have had, and I have tried them all. Time for a new pair. Please don't change them!
I have tried many outstanding tires that try to bridge up from dependable training/racing tires to a fast paced commuter tire and they always disappoint after a bit of wear. This tire, with a bit of extra weight, delivers in security on the road. It wears great, bearing scars of untold cuts and nicks, you almost feel bad replacing them. Not indestructible, small wire fragments seem to be it's main foil, but overall solid. 28c with about 5k + a year on highway/bike trail commute.
First tried the 700x30 on a Diverge to use on rough and some gravel/dirt roads. Tough tire that still rides smoothly. Then put 700x25 on a single speed Langster. Ride quality good with no loss in average speed. Now putting 700x25 on a Tarmac. They will now be on all my bikes for road use. If these tires don't change and keep their high quality, they will be the only road tires I will use.
Bought these to ride on the GAP trail. They worked awesome. I've put about 150 miles on them all different terrains. I may use these year round just to have the added grip. Haven't noticed a change in speed.
Been riding this tire for over 9 years now and must say this tire is essentially flat proof. Used to live on Maui where the glass and debris on the side of the road was extreme. Most times if the debris even stuck into the tire it would not puncture and with quick inspection you can just pop out anything that actually gets embedded. Rode many miles with cuts in outer jacket and no problem. I once road this tire for 11 miles with a 3 inch section of the cord showing. By the time I got back to the car there were 3 new sections with NO rubber. That says a lot about the tire.
I'm in my 2nd road season with these tires (700 X 30 on a Diverge) and over 2,000 miles...never had a flat. I've removed the occasional glass shards from both the front and rear tires (after a ride) but nothing has ever gone through the tires. The tires have ""would marks"" from the debris, but none of those have ever propagated. If you are looking for a long mileage, smooth running, sure footed bulletproof tire - this one is for you.
Was tired of getting flats. These tires work great for long rides!
The best tire for all around conditions! We go through a couple of pairs a year and ride in all conditions!
I bought these tires for my husband and he loves them. We moved from MS to IL where the weather and roads are very different. His other tires kept going flat and leaving him stranded in places. I bought these based on the description and the reviews. I am so glad I did.
I haven't installed the new tires yet (on sale). I swapped All Condition Armadillo Elites for the Specialized Turbo Pro's that were on the bike when I bought it (8/27/18 - $30 difference). I was looking for a little more all around traction, lower pressure and wider tire. Rear tire got a rock cut shortly after the first ride (rock still embedded in the tire for approx 10 miles before I discovered it). Sliver of limestone about 3/8 x3/8"" cut and stayed the tread but didn't puncture. Sealed it with Shoe Glue and it's been running without incident (aprox 1250 miles according to Strava). The tire has worn down to 'smooth' where the cut was so I figure it's close to replacement time. Plan on running at least another 250/400 miles on the rear tire before I replace it. See how it wears. Local bike shop said I could probably get more mileage out of them but I would have to decide whether I want to fix flats or ride. Hmmm - RIDE! Like the Armadillo Elites. Decent traction (gravel, tarmac, dirt, grass). Wet or dry.
This is my second set of the armadillo tires. Just replacing the first due to normal wear. I got two full seasons out of the first set. Probably could have gone longer. I have yet to get a flat due the tires.
I have had my Armadillo's on this bike for 4K miles and have never had a flat. I ride in some inhospitable areas and have never had an issue. My record is pulling 13 sand spurs out of the back wheel alone without an issue. We regularly change buddies tires on the rails to trails here but never an Armadillo. They stand up to my trainer also! will get another set from this sale. These tires have outlast my saddles......)
I ride about 7500 miles a year. Less than ideal roads. I flat about once every two to three years riding on Armadillo Elites. I am on my third set. I usually change them e dry 12 months as I figure I've gotten my money's worth. Last November I had a freak wire pierce my tire. I patched it with a piece of Tenacious Tape (for fixing tents, rafts...) and am still riding this tire! Would love to upload a pic but this review page doesn't offer such.
I have used Armadillo Elite tires for 10 years and in that time I have had only a handful of flats or punctures. These are the best and strongest bicycle tires that one can use.
Before these tires I would get flats all the time. I have had these tires for almost 10 years and only one flat. I'm just now needing to get a new set!
I only have a few miles on them. So far I like them a lot.!
I got this tires in new bike, after they needed replacement, I did not wanted anything else.
