It’s dealer’s choice with the Status 160 frameset, but whatever the build, a good time is more than a safe bet. But that said, the odds of you being able to keep your poker face after getting a taste of the Status 160’s playful Mixed Wheel-Size Trail Geometry are awfully tall.

The traction and rolling speed of a 29-inch wheel on the front and the quick-to-flick, snappy ride feel of a 27.5-inch wheel in back may sound like were hedging our bets, but we’re really going all-in on fun.

And, by sticking to a frame design with an emphasis on simplicity and reliability we’ve ensured the fun flows unfiltered and free from distractions.

  • With an eye on keeping maintenance to a minimum, oversized pivot bearings increase durability while a common size across all pivots makes service and replacement a breeze when that day does come around. A threaded SRAM DUB bottom bracket continues on the theme with worry-free performance.

  • The active, planted feel of the Status’ FSR suspension design and Fox’s DPX2 rear shock equipped with our Rx Trail Tune make for perfect friends—and plenty of benefits. Calling on a twin-tube design that allows for two separate oil pathways during compression and rebound, the DPX2 rear shock provides plenty of support for big hits while still offering enough buttery small-bump sensitivity to keep you fresh for when the style points really count.

Great option from Specialized, though not for everyone.

I went from a Stumpy to a Status for a bit more capability without breaking the bank for an Enduro... In Phoenix, AZ This bike rides great! Very capable and fast on the downhill. Feels like you can ride the steepest of features confidently. On trail rides it is a bit extreme, especially when turning. You have to pay attention to it a lot, and that makes longer trail rides less comfortable. I really like the way it climbs technical features. Winches right up on the back tire, and very forgiving. Not a very efficient bike, but extremely capable and confident when you get to the fun stuff!

Got the frame quick! Specialized

Got the frame quick! Specialized customer service got me sorted out with a new derailleur mount since fedex (or whoever) bent it shipping to me. Frame was packaged very well and no scratches when showed up! 10/10 recommend ordering!

Best value for money frame

Best value for money frame available. This is my second status frame. The first one was a size S4 and it was slightly too big for me. It seems like most folks my height (6’) go with the S4 but after a year in that size I downsized to an S3. Time will tell if that is the right choice. The quality of these frames are just as good as my $2,300 alloy frame. For the type of riding I do (lots of tech climbs in order to earn my downs) I would love to see the bottom bracket raised half to 3/4 of an inch in the high setting.

Really like this mullet frame.

Really like this mullet frame. With the 27.5 rear wheel, you can tell it's lighter than 29" when climbing.
