The Recon 1.0 was made for riders who set out on two wheels to seek the great outdoors and saddle up their bike for the adventure ahead, with the scientifically proven performance benefits of Body Geometry. The Recon 1.0’s purpose is to add confidence and functionality for riders who push their limits uphill for an unforgettable view, maybe are even clipping in for the first time, or are hopping on their trainer for an after-work hammer session on the spin bike. Comfort and versatility are key, and that’s what the Recon 1.0 was made for.

Body Geometry: Like every Body Geometry shoe, the Recon 1.0 is ergonomically designed and scientifically proven to improve comfort, increase performance, and reduce the chance of injury for every rider with patented technology, while improving power by 7 watts - validated by science.

Stride Technology: Stride technology provides a flexible outsole and upper around the toe box combined with a stiff cleat pocket, enabling the shoe to easily flex when walking and remain stiff and efficient when pedaling.

Efficiency: The Recon 1.0 utilizes an L6 BOA® Dial with soft lace made from a Dyneema yarn, eliminating unwanted stretch while removing hard molded guides to give riders a more supple upper that comfortably conforms to the foot. Additionally, the outsole is optimized to put your power on the pedal through balanced stiffness.

  • Body Geometry sole and footbed are built with purpose and backed by science to boost power, increase efficiency, and reduce the chance of injury by optimizing hip, knee, and foot alignment.

  • Injection STRIDE toe-flex technology allows for natural toe movement off-bike but remains stiff for pedaling (stiffness index 6.0)

  • L6 BOA® Dial with soft-lace cables made from a Dyneema yarn.

  • SlipNot™ rubber tread for confident traction on all terrain.

  • Two-bolt cleat pattern fits all major MTB pedals.

  • Approximate weight: 291g (1/2 pair, Size 42)

The perfect shoe for me

When it comes to shoes, I have one very specific requirement- rearward cleat adjustment. I've struggled to find brands that offer enough rearward cleats adjustment for me to be comfortable. I need the cleat to be an inch or so behind the ball of my foot, which is very hard to find in a stiff road/gravel focused shoe. After trying several different offerings I happened upon these. I could not be happier. I ride predominantly gravel and road. These shoes feel in many ways like road shoes, which makes them ideal for gravel. They are stiff and responsive. Unlike traditional road shoes, they are extremely comfortable to walk in and have acres of toe room. The single BOA works perfectly, and I can crank the dial down and still be totally comfortable. Super impressed, well done Specialized.

Not foot shaped

I had high hopes that I had finally found a shoe that was a bit more foot-shaped. True the toe area is a bit wider and more blunt than pointy, but still not quite hitting the mark. And for some reason the midsole area is extremely narrow and digs into my arch, as it hangs off the side of the sole a bit. Was hoping the Specialized R and D department could discover the shape of a human foot, but seems we might be another 5 years off.

Comfortable

These are gravel oriented shoes but I ride them on both a road bike and a steel off-road touring bike. I'd say comfort is the key feature here. They flex just enough and the wider toe box makes for a very nice experience on longer rides. Great for warmer weather, but I'm sure they'll be just as well paired with some thicker socks for the winter.

Fabulous! Just what I was after!

Love these shoes. I have small feet and struggle getting shoes in my size, Specialized are one of very few brands that do them. When I saw these had been released I very quickly ordered a pair. Delivered quickly. These are perfect if like me you don’t want to spend stupid money on shoes but want something that looks nice and are comfortable. Really impressed for the price. Would say they are more of a summer shoe due to the ventilation holes. Fab shoes at a fab price!!
