Flux™ 850 Headlight

Splitting the difference between the previous Flux 800 and 900, the Flux 850 gets the game-changing Mode Shift found on the Flux 1250. This means there are three steady modes, all using both the wide and spot beams. Go from Steady Low to Steady High in a single push, without cycling through a flash mode. Press-and-hold for two seconds and you get into the secondary modes: Steady Flash to be seen in busy urban environments, Flash Mode for endless runtime, and two Flashlight modes with 10 and 20 hours of runtime for hanging around the campsite, or when you forget to charge your light and need to conserve the last few percent of battery life to get home.

IPX7 waterproof means this light can survive being submerged 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. No, it's not meant for scuba diving. But is can handle anything you can throw at it on two wheels.

Works well

Lots of different modes. Beam good for road illumination, not so great for gravel. Easy clip to remove and charge.

Good ligth, bad quality

It was a good ligth while it lasted, unfortunately the outdated Micro USB charger port broke off. Literally came out attached to my charging cable. Never dropped it or mistreated, thankfully I bought on sale so it doesn't hurt as bad.

Love it But......

Bought this light over a year ago. Due to injury and life stuff, I wasn't able to do any night rides until this winter. After 4 rides there was a rattling sound and the light stopped running. finally, with nothing to lose since it was over a year old and out of warranty, i took it apart. the negative wire was detached. tried to repair but ultimately soldering, gluing, taping and anything else wouldn't keep it connected. When it worked, it literally lit up the trail! *****HOWEVER - With that said, I have a buddy that has one he has put through the ringer and it still works fine. I use many specialized products from bicycles, apparel, shoes, helmets, and multiple accessories with great results! I still recommend this product!*****

Great light

Light is great. Handlebar mount is one of the best I know. Only the mount’s for helmet or camera style are not included which would have made it a 5 star for me.

Cheap charging connection

The charging connection solder came off after a few months. Also not practical on/off switch. I am sorry I purchased it and without proof of purchase, no warranty is honored.

Bright but terrible battery life - avoid

I am not sure if there is an issue with my battery. I have had this for a few weeks and have noticed that when in the daytime flash mode it is meant to last 20 hours. I only get 4 hours! Not sure if this is false advertising or I have received a faulty product. Would appreciate contact from Specialized if the latter

Love the lamp!

I am in the automotive repair field. So the install was very easy on my rock Hopper expert. Very surprised by the light output and the run time is perfect for me! Going on two years now! Yes an upgrade to the c charging port is needed!

was pretty excited until i realized the mount does not fit my new specialized stumpjumper. the bar is too fat, and where its tapered, the light just comes loose right away.

The light was easy to

The light was easy to install came with some adapters for skinner bars. Only warning is when clipping it in and out be sure it snapped into place by giving it a good shake. I placed mine back in the holder and I hit some rough pavement and the light fell off the bike about 1/4 mile from my house.

Whereas the mounting bracket can

Whereas the mounting bracket can be a bit annoying to set up, once you get it set, you can forget it. The lamp to bracket connection is solid, but first time Users: hear the “click”. I love this lamp; it’s the second one I have (two bikes). Compact, decent run time, pedestrians and drivers squint When looking at it-which means it’s effective. Reasonable price, solidly made.

Can’t Install

I’ve tried everything to fit this onto my bike - specialized Roll 2.0. It will not fit on, with any of the bushings, nothing - then when I try to lift up the clip to remove and re-adjust the light; it’s near impossible to adjust.. I have to use all of my force. I would not buy this, I am super disappointed in this product. The instructions are laughable and it will not mount on my bike.

Awesome light !!

What a powerful and flexible light!! Very impressed with the options this light offers. Bike paths, main roads, trails.. it doesn’t matter. The light can accommodate different variants and different strengths. The only down is the mounting bracket appears a tad flimsy. Hopefully that will improve over time!

Only used it for a

Only used it for a week or so. It has been great. It provides a lot more light than i thought it would and it doesnt bump around or look like its going to fall off on bumpy tracks. My only criticism is the red line for the low battery indicator comes on quite early and gives you a sort of run time anxiety even though its only at 75% and has much longer to go. It would be nice for a more gradual green, orange, red step down of percentage left. Even on a dim setting it provides a lot of light. I dont specifically ride at night but i start around 5pm in the afternoon and by the time I am halfway through the sun is mostly gone and by the end i need light. Quick and easy to swap to my road bike from mtb

Over the many years on

Over the many years on the bike I have tried many lights and this is one of the best: the beam is strong and wide enough to see the entire road. And I like the combination of light and flash. I didn’t have any problems installing it on my road bike as other reviewers indicated - I thought the system is simple and strong. The only problem is that it is too easy to be removed, the light and the clamp, if left unattended. Here are my issues with this light: - the switch is on the side - it is not visible and it is so smooth that it is not easy to locate in the dark, even without gloves. - the switch is on the side - most people will use the index finger to change lights, which means you have to release the handlebar to do that. In an emergency, this may not be the best idea. I ride country roads where there plenty of animals on or crossing the roads. On a trail, this may be even more of an issue. - the light change pattern is high - medium - low - high and so on. In an emergency, when you may need more light fast, if you are in medium and I need more light I need to switch twice (to low and then to high). In my opinion, the pattern should be reversed: low, medium, high. In an emergency you will always get more light. Overall it is a good light, and I would buy again.

Superman light, Flux 800

I hit a severe bump and the light popped out of its bracket and skidded into the street promptly getting run over by a car. It's still working great. That was 1 1/2 years ago.

Awesome light! I use it

Awesome light! I use it for MTB on local wooded trails which get dark really fast! I normally keep the light in my pack until it’s time to use, then throw it on. The mounting can be a bit tricky to figure out at first but there are two distinct clicks that mean the light is secure. I have crashed (multiple) with the light on and it stayed on the bike while I went flying off! Have mostly used the second brightest setting which is plenty for very dark conditions, the beam is wide enough to light a regular car width lane which is plenty for trail riding. Also have the flux 800 which is just as reliable! Yeww 🤙

I was looking for a

I was looking for a light for daytime visibility that would last through 4-6 hour rides (my smaller ones kept dying) and also be usable for rides where you need a headlight in tunnels. I bought this light and two sport mounts (GoPro mounts) for it - I'm mounting them underneath my computer mount. The light is great so far - blindingly bright, lots of flashing modes, etc. No issues yet with running out of power during 6 hour daytime rides in the various flashing modes. The mounts are good so far, holding the light securely but allowing me to remove it for charging and replace it without changing the angle of illumination. The light is built like a tank (seems like cast aluminum) which is great, but probably overkill and makes it kind of heavy (±150g) which is the biggest downside. I think they could have made it with a plastic casing, it would be almost exactly as durable, and probably 50g lighter. One last complaint: Specialized: it's 2022. Why are you still selling products with micro-USB charging ports, a finicky and fragile cable that nobody carries around any more for their phone or computer? Please, please, please start using USB-C on everything, already!!! It's much more robust, every Android phones uses it and most computers also use it so people don't need to carry a cable just to charge your lights.

So far.... amazing!

Excellent light beam, kinda square shaped beam pattern with plenty of side illumination. 3 settings are ideal. The attachment to the bar clamp does feel a bit delicate but so far it's been very secure on rough MTB rides. I mostly like the central position on the bar and a sideways profile rather than a conventional torch shape. Very pleased.

Super Wide, Bright Beam

The beam is super bright at 850 lumens. Fills the entire path or street for night rides or early morning. The bracket is a little tough for larger diameter bars. Very sturdy once it's on. Highly recommend.
