All barn-burner and no benchwarmer, the Rockhopper Sport throws out the playbook when it comes to putting performance points on the board while playing some serious defense on behalf of your wallet.

Game-ready with Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes, MicroSHIFT shifting and an SR SunTour XCM fork that’s built to hustle, the Rockhopper Sport can tack up the win on any given Sunday—and the rest of the week too for that matter.

  • A heart of gold, presented in our lightweight yet durable Premium A1 Aluminum, the Rockhopper’s butted aluminum frame features hydroformed top and downtubes in order to keep weight low and strength high, all while providing increased standover clearance, slick internal cable routing and dropper-post compatibility.

  • With the goal of making sure that the Rockhopper offers both the best fit and best performance for every person, no matter their measure, we’ve paired each Rockhopper frame size with the optimal wheel size. The result is a Rockhopper to fit every rider and the assurance that every Rockhopper is rolling on the best-handling wheel for its frame size.

  • Bringing our Rx Tune to Rockhopper for the very first time, the lockout-equipped SR Suntour XCM with custom Multi-Circuit damping brings size-specific travel and spring rates to the show in a performance that’s sure to impress while also ensuring consistent geometry, handling and suspension performance, regardless of frame or wheel size.

  • Beautifully beastly, hydraulic disc brakes pack a mean bite but deliver their power with a refined, intuitive feel to make for a package that punches way above its pay grade.

  • Keep things simple with a durable 2x MicroSHIFT drivetrain that offers plenty of range.

  • Pair dead-reliable hubs from Formula with our 25-millimeter internal diameter, hookless Stout rims for a wheelset hat-trick: strong, light and durable.

Cheap components

I think this bike was meant to be put in the corner and looked at but not ridden. I bought this bike 2 springs ago and have put less than 200kms of reasonably easy riding (exclusively with my 7y/o) on it. Gears started slipping and took it to the bike shop I bought it from. There were broken internal parts in the shifter, and chain and cassette were worn out and needed replacing. Regret purchasing this bike.

Hit’n the Trails

Trail riding beginner in my early 40’s. This bike is a great place to start. Hardtail and the front suspension is responsive. Microshift drivetrain is amazing and as a novice I’m learning to get the hang of it. I chose the Satin Slate w/Grey lettering paint job, LOVE IT. I chose the “ship to dealer” option for order delivery(local Licensed Specialized dealer), it was hassle-free. The bike assembly was professionally done and I recommend that route when ordering online. I’m having fun with it and cannot wait to travel and hit the trails in Ocala and Gainesville, FL

Just the color, not as the image

Hi, cannot really review the bike, did not tried it. Ordered mine orange, the color looked bright and awesome. Quite disappointed when it arrived, it is more like a salmon orange. Not an ugly color, just not what the picture and my expectations where. Even the bike shop warned me when he received it. Now I'm not sure I'll try another as I am done waiting on a bike that might not be the color I expect. I understand it is a photo, and screen, and all of it, but on a Mac and Android color is way off.

Don't buy the base models

This is probably the best entry level bike you cand find, but if you're planning on riding this more than 2 o 3 times per week or doing some crazy stuff on the trails, you 100% need to buy the elite model. That is by far a better bang for your buck.

Need a lot of assembly adjustments

Don’t believe for a second that this bike comes correctly preassembled and quality ridden before shipping. Brakes weren’t too bad but gears were horrible. The Rear Derailleur cable was incorrectly installed and the 3 highest gears were not available. Plan to spend considerable time assembling or take to a bike shop. Unfortunately there was no dealer close to me. Wonder, solid bike so far.

Never bought a bike online

Never bought a bike online and thought it was going to be stressful but the experience is just as advertised. Received notifications on the process the entire time from being shipped to the end of assembly. Pick up was extremely quick and was out the door in less than a minute. The bike is assembled by certified mechanics and from my little time riding the bike it is holding up well.

Arrived scratched, slips gears constantly!

Bike arrived with a small scratch on the frame. Gears have been slipping since day one. Frustrated that you spend this sort of money then have to wait so many days for “professionals” to assemble the bike and ship it to you only to realize it’s scratched and slips gears constantly.

Lately I've come to prefer

Lately I've come to prefer the gravel roads of state forests, so I needed a tougher bike! I recently got a Sirrus 3 for road riding, found it to be great, so I stuck with Specialized and got this Rockhopper. At this price point, I find the bike to be perfectly satisfactory. It's big! The 29" wheels make rolling a pleasure. I challenged it on some rougher roads and for the first time I could handle these with ease.

Great Bike for Tall Person

I am 6 feet 4 inches tall and this Rockhopper with 29" tires is the best fitting bike ever! I like its smooth 2x9 shifting and smooth stops with its hydraulic brakes. The dealer (Adventure Cycling) setup and delivery was swift and helpful. They offered to help including initial adjustments as needed. So far, the only minor adjustments needed were to the seat to get the height, tilt, and setback feeling just right. I also slightly rotated the position of the shifters/brake levers on the handlebars. I am enjoying riding confidently on all surfaces from paved to gravel, dirt, wooden bridges. It does well on dry trails plus snow, snowpack, mud, slush, and ice.

My first real mountain bike!

Just got the Rockhopper at our local bike store Durst Cycle and I gotta say it’s fantastic! Never heard of the brand before but when I saw it I knew it would be perfect. We have a park with moderate MB trails that it handled with ease. Love how it smoothly shifts and brakes. Very clean blacked-outish design that I love.

Awesome Bike

Fantastic entry level bike if you’re looking to ride some easy to moderate trails. Anything rocky or jumps and you will need to upgrade the fork. I upgraded the fork to a Rockshox recon silver and it rides amazing on rough terrain. Also bought new pedals and it rips up the track now. If you’re looking to upgrade like me just get the elite model which already comes with the upgraded fork I mentioned and a 1x drivetrain. Still a great bike regardless!

Great bike for what I

Great bike for what I need. Haven’t rode in a long time…a lot older now I just wanted something to handle some moderate trails. I’m 5-10, the medium frame with 29’s fit like a glove. Assembly was a bit challenging, not great instructions- I recommend having dealer assemble. Also need to switch levering - backwards from anything I’ve ever rode. I dumped it slowing down a steep incline and hit the front brakes instead of the rear :)

Well!

I'm a newbie to all this and have no clue what I'm doing. I strength train, backpack, swim, and run, but sadly, haven't owned a bike in a very long time. I was finally able to get one only knowing I wanted something that could be versatile... go on dirt roads, rocks, trails, potholes, bridges, paved bike paths, the highway, and so forth. I just went 23 miles on the thing yesterday along the oceanside of Alaska on all terrain stated above and it did me well! It was a gloriously smooth ride. I am wanting to get upgraded handlebars now. I know I don't have anything to compare it to and still have a lot to learn, but this bike has me so excited to use it, all the time! It listens to me! It's sleek and simple, and if it keeps up as it has it will be lasting me a super long time. I love that I can race with it if triathlons are in my future, too! It truly is a lot of fun to ride! It's peppy =)

Decent and fun on trail.

This is a very decent entry level bike on trail. OEM, I took this bike on moderate trails and it does fine. I was able to climb 5-15% grade, its challenging, but possible. Descending on the bike is also quick and responsive. Best suited for moderate trails and flat trail riding, nothing too technical.

Fun All Round Bike

I got this bike when I was shopping for a hybrid model (Trek Verve, FX etc). When I test drove it, it was a joy to ride. It’s more playful and fun to ride and with some road tires slapped on (USD 60) it was fit for riding to work. This is better for commuting to work because it handles bumps and cracks on roads better, climb on and off pavement whenever you want, and is ready to hit take trials if you need to. It’s gearing is fast enough to achieve medium to fast speeds. If you are not sure what bike to get, get this one. It’s plain fun!
