No rider likes being stranded on the trail with a flat, which is why the Traverse SL II i9 wheels use our (US patent pending) 5mm Flat Top bead design. Front and rear wheels are different and should therefore be designed differently. That is why we engineered front and rear specific rims with carbon layups for strength and weight, boasting 15% greater front wheel strength and 25% more rear wheel strength than the previous Traverse SL. The result? A wheelset that enables riders to go faster and hit harder than before.
A smoother line is a faster line on the trail, which is why we designed the Traverse SL II i9 to optimize torsional and lateral stiffness in the rim and wheel builds, resulting in a 21% more laterally compliant wheel than the previous Traverse SL. AIR TIME: Thank our genius engineer, Chuck Teixeira, for inventing the “Roval ThreadBed Valve”—a valve that threads directly into the rim. This ingenious design eliminates compression nuts, air loss from rim flex, makes tire set-up easier, and reduces sealant clogs.
HIGH ENGAGEMENT: The i9 1/1 hub optimizes control via a dual-phased-pawl drive mechanism, accomplishing 90 points of engagement and 4° engagement by way of a six-pawl driver and 45-tooth drivering. The result is immediate power transfer from the pedals to the drivetrain, propelling riders forward with minimum lag. Perfect for ratcheting through techy sections.
