Almost a 5 star

Fit is good (I opted for 32" waist, though wish you had a 33" waist size). The relaxed fit is more of a sleek fit. Plenty of pockets, but my one criticism is the two lower/side pockets are a little to small for smart phone or wallet, so I have to put those items in the top front pockets.

Great shorts

I really like the button closure and adjustable waist. I've had shorts with snaps that won't stay closed. The length is great and the material seems very durable. In my opinion, specialized makes the best chamois in the business. I wish more of their shorts included a chamois.

Best shorts ever

Easily the best shorts ever for mountain biking in past 33 years. Wearing these exclusively for the past two years and just about to order two more pair. In the minority in that I refuse to wear a backpack. One large water bottle is enough. The beauty of these shorts is the 4 pockets. I've never damaged my iPhone in the front left side pocket and it fits perfectly. Drivers license, credit card, and a couple others with an emergency $20 bill wrapped with a rubber band fit in the side zip pocket easily along with Clif Blocks. Mini pump, Coworking 5/Essential 8 mini-tool (brilliant design), tire plugs, basic med kit all fit easily in roomy front pockets. Hate wearing a soggy wet diaper in the crotch so I love these don't have a liner. Awesome shorts!

Great fit, minimal storage, stays wet

I appreciate the fit of these shorts. Sure, there's no fly but it's a minimal issue. I like that the size adjustment is on the outside of the shorts and in the front so I can tighten it periodically as I ride if needed. I don't like how small all the pockets are. Don't call them cargo shorts if the pockets are so small you can barely fit a wallet, keys, and not likely your phone. The main pockets are of average size but the cargo pockets are WEAK. The shorts have the vent holes you'll normally find on Specialized riding bottoms but their ability to breathe is irrelevant to the fact that these shorts don't dry out. They absorb sweat and stay wet. I also don't put my riding gear through the dryer so it's also a considerable time for them to dry on the line. Wet or not, they are comfortable. I'm unhappy about the cargo pockets though.

Great on and off the bike

I’ve got the trail and trail cargo, and both are great. The no-zipper fly and pull tab waist adjustment is weird at first, but ultimately means that pulling these on is super quick, and the fit at the waist is super easy. I like the pockets and the more matte fabric of the cargos a bit better (better for casual, everyday use) but they have a little bit of laser perf at the junk, so color match your undies or it’ll be obvious! My only gripe would be the size of the zipper pockets. One is the perfect size to tuck keys into, but the other is just a bit too small for anything except a gel or very flat wallet. I’d like it better if one of those pockets was like the old enduro pro shorts or the demo pro pants: big enough for a phone, placed right on the side of the thigh 6’4”, 210lbs, size 36

Good fit and pockets are

Good fit and pockets are deep and handy for phone, keys etc. my only recommendation would be to have a longer zipper to make it easier to get the shorts on. They’re s but tight trying to slip on at first given the very short zipper opening. Once on the fit is comfortable.

The shorts fit fine and

The shorts fit fine and have just the right amount of pockets. My kneepads are not the largest, but it seems that there is plenty of space for thicker ones too. The option to attach these to the trail bib is excellent.
