Whether you've been riding trails for decades or you're just starting your XC journey, the Rockhopper Comp is here to take your rides to the next level.

It starts with our new A1 Aluminum frame that has optimized tube shapes which save weight while dramatically improving aesthetics. To go along with these clean new lines, the new Rockhopper also has internal cable routing to further clean up the frame. Lastly, our Sport XC 29 geometry adjusts the reach, angles, and standover height to make for an improved fit across the size range. This is sure to keep you ripping and confident while heading both up and down the trail.

This Rockhopper comes with a no-nonsense spec featuring a full Shimano drivetrain, dependable Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, grippy Ground Control tires that add traction over any trail, and an SR Suntour XCM 29 fork with our custom Multi-Circuit damping that eliminates the "pogo" feel commonly associated with coil forks.

  • The frame is constructed from lightweight A1 Aluminum in order to provide a compliant, durable platform to support our acclaimed XC Sport 29 Geometry. Combined, you get a bike that's more than efficient on climbs and descends with equal aplomb.

  • The SR Suntour XCM fork puts out 80/90/100mm (size-specific) of plush and reactive travel, provided by coil-sprung suspension that's custom-tuned for lighter riders.

  • A Shimano Acera rear derailleur controls the rear shifting with durable aplomb. It shifts along a wide gear range, 11-34t, so you can ride confidently knowing that you'll always have the right gear for the hill at hand.

Great entry level bike

I purchased this bike at a steal of a price, as it was ""demoed"" and have not looked back. A few cheap upgrades made this stock bike a beast for me for not much money. -Narrow wide 30t chainring, removed front derailleur -Maxxis forecaster 2.3"", tubeless -Brand X dropper post -DMR flat pedals, alloy -Sealed headset bearings -New saddle and seat post and collar, as it slipped almost all the time -XT derailleur, rear; the stock one lost a battle with some brush on the trail It has been a joy to ride and I even took it to a bike park and some downhill trails and have had no real issues besides the things that were my fault or that I wanted to upgrade. I couldn't thing of a better bike for the causal or new to MTB riding rider, or even someone who doesn't need or want a heavy hardtail or full suspension. I would buy a Specialized again in a heartbeat.

Playtime bike

Needed a hardtail in my size Xxl. Got the 2019 rockhopper. Slapped on some riser bars and a rockshox recon fork and Shazam! It's just a blast on trails and nipping around town... At this price point brakes and gears are just fine..exactly what I needed. The bike handles really well on climbs and rocky descents, responds very well indeed...it just makes me smile when I'm riding,! Hardtail Funtime! Only downside for me was the suntour fork.

I would definitely buy and request it to a friend.

My first real mtb. Been riding a Wal Mart bike for a year. But a friend called me one day ,said come over got something for you. The next day , I got on this grey/ black rockhopper. It was love at first ride. I couldn't believe how smooth it was over bumpy trails. Up hill was with no effort. Had it for 6 months now. Just gave it s complete tune-up.had the bottom bearing go out on the neck , new brake pads and bleed the brake lines . Runs like a champ. LOVE THIS BIKE

Great hardtrail bike

For the price, the rockhopper is an amazing bike for getting out on the trail. Inclines are a breeze with the easy and quick gear shifts. The 29 inch tires make a huge difference, especially on sandy and loose gravel trails. The only downside is taking the front wheel off tends to move around the brake calipers causing disc rub. Its a minor issue but easily fixed. Overall this bike is leaps and bounds ahead of other bikes in this price range.

I absolutely love it!

The bike is very light and fun to use. Equipped with a 27 speed, this bike gives the perfect range for climbing descending, and even racing! Which is very easy due to the lockable fork. Overall, ive only had 1 problem with this bike. After about 1 week of ownership, the front hub gave out, but that was probably due to the fact that the bike fell over directly onto the Quick-Release handle, thus making the hub give out. But with the hydraulic disc brakes the bike stops on a dime! My friend who has a diamondback with cable discs has the same sort of braking setup, with the same pads and rotors. He was descending a dirt road, going to skid back onto the pavement hit his front brakes on accident, went OTB and crashed. Now those are some good brakes! And yes he is OK. Other than the hub issue the bike has been super reliable and would buy all of them if I could.
