I have been racing xc for a while on this bike and only had a few issues that could have been avoided if I did something about it but overall it is great and I have been able to ride jump lines to! Best bike!

That's all. Not much else to say. It's a far cry from what I remember entry-level bikes being like. Can't wait to put a couple upgrades on.

Rockhopper is a fantastic bike for the price. Had the 1990s version, the 2010 version and now the 2023 version. Gets better every single time I buy one. 10/10 bike for the money.

Went for the Expert. Great drivetrain for uphill climbs, decent brakes for downhill sprints. 300lbs rider so I experienced a bit of brake fade at 3 mile mark down a fire road. Great fork floats down trails but lockout still gives about 1/3 travel. All in all for $1k big smiles!

Purchased a L frame last year when the price was $150 more than the 2023 price. Worked smoothly initially on mountain trails and gravel. But all of a sudden the front shifter stopped working as the gear would get jammed unexpectedly. Upon changing the shifter from microshift to another brand, this led to more complications such as the chain constantly getting sucked into the front derailleur despite not shifting under load and taking basic precautions. Overall, the build is decent, but definitely not worth the current or previous price. It has mechanical disc brakes as opposed to hydraulic brakes that some Trek bikes in the same range have. I want to genuinely believe this is a good bike, but this summer will decide how it goes -- hopefully more time on the trails in mud and sun, then in a shop. Have wasted a lot of time and efforts in repairs lately.

Really great bike, light and responsive

After than a month riding this bike, last Sunday, when I got home the crankset was defective, I took it to a bike shop and they said I have to change the whole crankset, I don't recommend it.

I have purchased 4 so, far. Including one in Spain, which started me on Specialized bikes. I always opt for the XL size (I'm 1.86) This bike rides toooooo low up-front. The handle bar and mount are not adjustable. I can barely get moving on this thing. My other Specialized bikes allllll have the same great fit for my body. So, I just don't get why this is rides so low up-front. I have a bad back, and this bike just makes it worse. I unfortunately bought this late fall in NYC, 2022. I didn't get a chance to ride it, as NYC weather always s_cks. I'm only finding out now. I think its important to test ride a new model. But how can we test ride a Specialized? I have no idea.

Best Investment! Love it, it is my first mountain bike and it feels great. Highly recommend it

Great bike for great price the red is beautiful

I've only had mine for about a month, already ditched the stock drivetrain to a nice Sram Eagle NX 12 speed and some Vittoria Barzo's. Too put it simply, it's an awesome XC bike has some amazing geometry. Highly recommend for people looking to get into mtb I don't know about trail riding with it but, definitely some nice muddy single track. One gripe I have with it is the stock rotors, I would highly advice switching them asap, mine already have rust on them.

Easily assembled and they even provided a box that can be used as a bike stand while asset. The bike rides smooth and shifts nicely. The 8x2 gears are perfect for my needs. The quality is second to none and would reccomend to anyone ready to ride street/trails.

Overall great starter bike but be careful the sizes are a little big. I picked XL based oh height chart and no I wished i just got the large

I love my new Rockhopper. The components are all a cut above comparable bikes. The 2x8 drive train with 22x34 low gear is a great choice for reliability and hills, one of the main reasons I chose this bike. Bike came perfectly tuned also. Highly recommended.

Bought this as a beginner mountain bike. I’m over 50 and wanted something I could ride off road. This is exactly what I wanted and since I already have a Specialized road bike I knew this would be excellent quality and provide years of riding. If your looking at getting one you won’t regret it.

When taking the bike out of the box it was a mess. Everything was loose and not strapped in well enough. I wish the instruction on how to put it together was better too. Other than the the gears being jerky when shifting, I love the way the bike rides and feels.

I bought the Rockhopper 29. It is an awesome value. It is light, responsive and vey comfortable on the trail. The gears and brakes are A+. My only regret is that it does not have tubeless ready wheels.The bike is so good you will push it. The tires are great but thorns do get through. I have had a few flats in the first few rides but it it very easy to change the tubes in a few minutes. It is a trade off of value vs. convenience as to whether to go to a higher lever Rockhopper with tubeless ready. If I had to buy another I might pay the extra for more convenience but maybe not. It is a lot of bike for the money! Overall, the bike is an amazing value. I highly recommend the bike.

This bike is AMAZING!!! It rides so smooth and comfortable. I use it for commuting and some trail riding and it works great for both options. I added a rear rack to hang some panniers for my commute and couldn’t be happier with the performance!

So far great bike for the price really happy I was able to snag when it was on sale people can’t believe the price when I tell them. The red is so beautiful get a lot of compliments on it

As an ex-mountain biking trail guide I've seen quite a lot on the trails... however no bike of this price handles as well as this one does when you really beat it up as hard as I did. The 29 inch wheels make easy work out of hills. Overall had very good control when going both up and down hill. Bike was very stable, made near crash recoverys very easy. Even when my recovery did not go as planned the bike was very durable and kept rolling the the punches er... trees. At the same time the bike was very light weight so picking it up when forced to carry it was no issue. Eventually I had to replace some parts, the cranks gave out probably 2 weeks into this season (keep in mind 5 years of prior use) I had sheered the pedal off and damaged the crank in the process. Also the stock tire width has some issues with beach like sand. However these were the only two issues I came up with... most due to my location. Overall great bike!

Love the bike I bought. I had a hybrid before and got a mountain bike. Very happy with the change and the quality of the Rockhopper.

My son loves the suspension, bigger tires and the durable frame. We are hopeful this bike will last a while with its stability.

I love the Rockhopper 29 in the olive color beautiful to look at the ride is amazing. Dislike the brakes they are very cheap and I feel as though you get a great bike but as far as stopping for the money you spend the bike should have better stopping power Love the bike I can't say enough about how much I love the bike. The brakes really do need some improvement. I know I have the beginner bike. The brakes are the reason for the loss of two stars

I been riding an old bike before and decided to buy a 2022 rockhopper expert and boy I am very impressed so far and I have rode it fifty times so far! I love my bike

I know there must be "better" bikes than this one, but I must say, this is the best one I ever had. I bought one back in 2010, and my only complain was that it hadn't disk brakes. The actual model has them, so now is perfect. Great bike for the price.

I like the frame design and overall feel for the Rockhopper 29. Saddle is comfortable and after seeing some poor reviews of the front suspension I've been finding that it has worked well for me. After riding it on trails for a week now I've found the braking system is not up to par and I have to tug on the brakes pretty hard to get stopping power. I've also been finding the chain has been popping off in very low gearing and going through some bumpy trails I've been getting gear shifting and jumping. I hope a trip to the shop and some adjustments can alleviate some of these issues.

Easy to build and setup out of the box, light weight and tight (no rattling).

Plenty of potential for upgrade as riders ability improves, rather than by a better bike I am going to keep the rockhopper and upgrade the fork, wheels, brakes add a dropper post pretty much upgrade all the components as the frame quality and ergonomics are excellent.
