They say that every journey begins with a single step, but when that journey is related to exercise, that first step can sure be a doozy. It can be life-changing, however, and there's no better machine to take the plunge with than with the Roll.

With its lightweight alloy low-entry frame that lets you easily put a foot down when needed, eight speeds of "go fast" MicroSHIFT gearing, stable and wide 650b tires, powerful hydraulic disc brakes, and low-entry design that makes it a easier to get on and off the bike, the Roll does everything in its power to encourage and motivate you to keep fit and get around in comfortable, efficient style.

  • The Low-Entry Roll is made from our A1 Premium Aluminum, and it features our Ground Control Positioning that makes it easy to put a foot down when stopped. This Roll also comes ready with rack/fender mount, making it easy to carry extra weight.

  • Wide diameter, 650b x 2.3" Nimbus II Sport Reflect tires provide excellent traction, stability, and cushioning, which creates a safer, more reliable, and more comfortable ride on either paved or dirt roads. Plus, the reflective accents of the tire increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.

  • Equipped with a Body Geometry Comfort Gel saddle, you can expect a supreme level of comfort anywhere you ride. It is ergonomically designed and scientifically tested to provide unmatched comfort and support while reducing pressure on soft tissue.

Roll 3.0 step through

This bike fit my needs as a 72 year old that needed a more upright bike for riding. Riding position is great, very smooth shifting and braking, and unexpectedly very nimble handling. I wasn't too sure about the step through but went for it at the recommendation of my local bike shop who I have a lot of confidence in. It does make it easier to use which is what I was looking for.

Shouldn't have an 8 speed chain.

Narrow-wide cranks don't work with 8 speed chains; chain falls off way too easily, and the chainkeeper provided just makes it get jammed harder when it does fall off.

10 cent bike, Thousand $$ price

We purchased 2 Roll 3.0 bikes 2 months ago. Since then, my chain has come off (on the trail) 4 times, and my wife's bike's chain has came off twice, also on the trail. Come to find out, this is a new, POOR designed gear system. They do NOT TELL YOU THIS when you shell out $1K or more for the bike. If you buy this, be prepared to carry wipes to clean up the grease when you have to put the chain back on, and also carry an allen wrench to adjust the "chain guard", as this seems to be a sticking point when the chain flies off. Do your research before buying this product, and you will be glad you did (Not Buy).

Miles and smiles

Love the (step thru) Specialized Roll bikes. I own two (summer and winter homes) in different parts of the US . Have peddled some serious miles thru the years AKA my bubble space with ear pods in and doing miles. I seriously feel this bike has kept me feeling and younger looking than I’am at 71 years.

Fantastic!

I purchased this bike a couple of days ago and I am in love! For context, I already have the Roubaix Sport (for road) and Diverge (for gravel) from Specialized. I also have a mtn bike and a fat bike from different manufacturers. But I wanted a comfy, relaxed ride for running errands, farmer's market, and around town in general. And for that, this bike is PERFECTION! smooth, comfortable, fast (yes, fast!), it's all I want to ride these hot summer days! The turn radius is ridiculously good and the hills in my neighborhood are easier than on my mountain bike! And the best feature yet - the tiny gadget that goes on top of the valves and shows me whether the tire pressure is good or not. I hate checking my tire pressure all the time! Now Specialized, make this happen on the performance bikes as well please!

Great bike

I have had chain issues, but this is a common thing among 1x bikes. Some minor adjustments to the chain retention device and I'm good, no more chain slips. I saw another rider talking about how their 3x7 men's bike hasn't had a chain issue. No duh, you have 2 additional sprockets to catch the chain should it slip. Don't act like this is a "new-fangled gadget" problem.

Chain Issues

I purchased the Roll 3.0 Low Entry in 2024 because I have hip arthritis. The bike was very easy to mount and dismount. However, over about 50 miles of riding, the chain fell off nine times. The LBS made some adjustments but it did not help. I returned the bike to Specialized for a full refund. The chain on my current 3 x 7 men’s comfort bike has not come off in over 10 years. Plus it has 700 x 38 tires which offer less rolling resistance.

Online Specialized Roll order

Seamless transaction. Website easy to navigate. Shipped to Gorges Cycles in Ithaca NY. The owner there never made me feel bad about not buying one off the rack. I bought some accessories while I was there in appreciation. He changed my bike chain on another bike without an apt while I waited. Felt like a cross between the new world and the old world. Online ordering convenience with ma and pa service. In addition email communication was good and only took about 1 week from order to pick up. Very satisfied. The bike itself was just what my wife wanted. Light weight and able to handle rail trail smoothly.

Love my new bike!

I first rode the Specialized Roll while on vacation that was owned by the Airbnb, it was the smoothest bike I had ever ridden and I had to have one for myself. The low profile is easy to get on and off too. I’m excited to get back on the road with leisurely bike rides thanks to my new Specialized 3.0!

You're better off having a mechanic do the final assembly

Wanted to love this bike. Had it shipped and I assembled it myself. However, took it for a test ride and both disc brakes were rubbing with the annoying sound and all. Generally, this is an easy fix but you can't use the common "squeeze the lever" method to properly position the caliper and pads. Took me a few tries to realize they need to be perfectly centered visually by hand without touching the brake levers. Got rid of most of the noise, but there's still a tiny bit of rubbing. So I definitely recommend having it shipped to a local store or via Specialized Delivery. That way an actual bike mechanic is responsible for the final assembly. The other thing that bothers me is the suspension seat post. The dampening is not smooth and the saddle twists from side to side 1-2cm, so that makes the bike feel cheap. Otherwise, it's a decent bike and I enjoy riding it with my kiddo attached in his Burley trailer. But given the price point, I expect better quality from Specialized.

This bike is perfection!

I’m very impressed with this bike! I went into the bike shop with the intention of purchasing a cruiser and the man at the shop convinced me to try the Roll 3.0 and I’m so glad I did! It was love at first ride. The ride is smooth and the tires are sturdy while still allowing you to gain speed quickly. They also absorb bumps in the road. The bike also keeps you mostly upright ,which was the main reason I was going to buy a cruiser, while giving you the ability to easily maneuver around corners and up hills. I highly recommend giving this bike a try!

Amazing Bike

I’m a 72 year old male. A little over a year ago I had a catastrophic fall and totally ruptured BOTH quadracep tendons. Long recovery, but had the goal to ride a bike again this summer. Found the Roll 3 Low Entry and wish came through. Could not recommend more highly for people in my situation. Looking forward to long rides this summer and increased balance, strength and flex.

Family Friendly!

We do a lot of camping; this bike handles the paved and dirt trails perfectly. I'm able to bike with my young kids without flying past them or puffing to keep up. Overall fantastic family friendly bike that's super comfortable and easy to handle for those relaxed family rides.

A Plus

Had a Schwinn and decided to purchase a Specialized from a bike shop in Philadelphia, PA The brakes, tires, adjustable gears, and low entry are exceptional features that make this bike very unique. If you are looking for a dependability/stability giving the Roll 3.0 low entry a test ride would be a splendid choice. The new low price is also an added plus.

Smooth and Comfortable

I bought this bike to ride on my daily trail rides and to be able to pull my grandchildren using a bike trailer. This bike rides so smoothly it hardly seems like you’re working. I biked 10 miles when I first got it home and could not believe I had gone that far. The low step through is great to use with kids in tow, and the hydraulic brakes are a definite plus. Shifting is simple and again smooth. This is well worth the cost especially if you ride almost daily. Try this bike on a test ride. You won’t be disappointed!

Great bike for riding with kids.

If you're looking to ride with your toddler, the Specialized Roll Low Entry is great. We struggled to find a child bike seat that was compatible, so I hope this post will help you. We went with a Burley Rear Mount Seat on top of a Topeak Babyseat RACK only. A Hamax Caress seat will also fit on this bike. The Topeak seat does NOT comfortably fit this bike -- your toddler's knees will be knocking into the seat because the Specialized Roll's angles are too sharp. Happy riding! My toddler looks forward to riding on "mama special bike". The lilac color is not very purple. It looked gray in the sun. So if you love purple, you may be disappointed. The sparkles are VERY subtle if you're worried about the lilac looking too sparkly.

Love my Bike!

Though this would be considered a "street bike," because we live in the country and people have dogs that run loose, I am forced to run my bike around our orchard to get my workout. Such a sturdy bike!! It handles the uneven dirt very well! Even the tires mostly endure the puncture-vines! Have had this bike for two years and only had to have a flat repaired once or twice (thank God for biking husbands!). And I ride almost every single day for my "old-lady" workout!

Best bike ever!

This bike is everything I’ve ever wanted! It’s a smooth and sturdy ride atop the most comfortable seat. I love that I don’t have to hunch down to reach handlebars. The speeds are great, and I can easily keep up on the bike trails with my speedy husband. The low entry makes getting on and off even easier/smoother.
