If you want to spend $400+ on a pair of cycling shoes, you're spoiled for choice. Sidi, Shimano, Lake, Bont, Fizik, Bontrager, Giro, and countless others all make great shoes. Zeroing in on the right pair is tricky, and even though it's a good problem, it's still a problem. I do my best to review shoes on their objective merits. I can't guarantee that the S-Works, or any other shoe will play nicely with your feet. That being said, personal comfort aside, I think that these are the shoe to beat. I'd argue that based on 4 points. 1. These are as-stiff or stiffer than any shoe I've ever ridden (RC9, Shot, Empire, 402). 2. The Specialized-specific boas are hands-down better than anything else I've ever used 3. The dyneema vented upper is killer 4. The footbed can be adapted to fit your foot perfectly. One note would be that if you live in a 4 season climate, and these are going to be your only shoe, the normal S-Works 7 would probably be a better bet, since the vented upper would make it diffucult to keep your feet warm below 50-60 degrees.
