I really like my bike, and...

The one thing keeping me from really loving this bike is it has had issues with "slow" shifting since I got it. I'm now trying a new bike shop and the mechanic is saying the derailleur is not well matched to the cassette, size-wise. He's going to replace the derailleur with one that is optimized for the 42t cassette, and hopefully that will do the trick. I will also say that in the first year I had this bike, I upgraded a part in the bottom bracket that fixed an issue where it would start coming loose every few months.

Terrific

I’ve been riding sirrus x4 for almost 3 yrs. Almost 5 thousand miles. I’ve replaced chain this year and expect to replace tires next year. Love the bicycle. Looking for recommendations for upgrade on seat. Have the original stock seat and it’s fine but I’d upgrade.

Recently bought my SirrisX 4.0/ Having ridden either a Catrike, recumbent bike or a Specialized Como e-bike for the last decade, I can tell you certain muscles have been neglected. The SirrisX drive train shifts "like butter", however I am having an issue with the front gear guard. This bike handles our local gravel bike path as if it was designed just for that purpose. I got an S-works seat and am not sure its worth the $. I recommend getting fitted by a certified technician (as I did at the Hostel Shoppe). In hind site, I would buy this bike again.

Specialized Sirrus X 4.0

Bought this for road and smooth off-road. I researched a long time. I absolutely love this bike. It is tight and smooth. Gears shift effortlessly. Super light. The only thing I would change might be the seat. Haven't yet though. Definitely recommend if you are looking to do mostly road and some easy off-road.

Go for it

If your reading this you are obviously interested in this model. All I can say get off your pc and go for it. What a fantastic bike. I have had hybrid bikes and road bikes but this one can seriously move. Great gearing, great ride. Only one thing if I’m honest is I may change the saddle.

Best Hybrid Bike Ever

I moved from road to hybrid frame bike about a year and half, and bought myself this beauty Sirrus x 4.0. I have so far accumulated 480 km on the road for fitness mostly on Sunday's morning and I'm so HAPPY with the performance, frame and lightweight unlike the regular heavy MTB. It has some chips and scratches, but it's part of the road I take and it's acceptable the wear and tear. I would definitely with no doubt recommend the Sirrus x and the 5.0 is even better than my 4.0. MAC

Love my Sirrus X 4.0

I’m relatively new to riding as an adult. I had an old Novara Buzz that served me well commuting but boy is it heavy. I decided to upgrade for my 52nd birthday. I test rode Trek and Giant before I found a Specialized dealer. Once I rode the Sirrus X 4.0 I knew this was the bike. Smooth shifting, super light and absolutely comfortable to ride. I absolutely love it!

Best bike I've ever had

I've had several bikes over the years, the most similar to this one being the Cannondale Quick. None of them even compare as far as comfort, capability, speed, stability, and FUN. If you're looking for a bike that will make you look forward to riding anywhere, here it is.

Amazing bike for the buck!

Frame is stiff, yet agile in the turns. Shimano components are spot on, never missing a shift. Single ring up front with derailure in back optimizes ratios and improves efficiency using the best ratios, not the most ratios. thumb and index finger shift levers make changing gears effortless. Hydraulic disc brakes will stop a freight train in the rain! Always there when you touch the levers. Frame geometry is sharp and crisp for handling and weight distribution over axles, yet comfortable for this oversized rider. it's light with the aluminum frame and carbon fork. And the paint finish is gorgeous! Just wait til you see the Specialized logo decals light up at night! Compliments every time i ride! John in Clinton Twp, MI

Great Bike

Was riding an early '90s mtn bike and bought this Cirrus X 4.0. Like going from a pickup truck to a sports car. Shifts like a dream. Handles well. I like the bigger wheels. Really pleased.

Amazing bike for cost.

Well now that I’ve put over 100 miles on the X4.0 without any issues at all, I would say it is a great and comfortable bike for longer trips. The posture is comfortable and good enough to power out when needed.

Met My Expectations

I have used this bike for one season so far. I ride 60 – 80 mile a week. All is working well. The derailleur is smooth and dependable. It shifts quickly. Concerning the cable rattle, I have not heard it, but I am fairly hard of hearing. The bike is light and quick. I mostly ride on paved or hard packed trails. For light off road, it does fine until you come up on mud, roots, or medium to large rocks. My only complaint is the 40t front ring. On paved trails I cannot keep up with my son’s performance road bike.

Great Paved and Gravel Trail Bike

This is bike is perfect for paved and gravel trails. I have ridden it just over 120 miles. 32 miles in one day on a gravel trail (C&O Canal). The gearing and tires work well on and off road. Except deep sand or gravel. The body position is comfortable. Brakes are strong enough. I weigh 330 lbs., I check the wheels and crank daily. Change a couple of small parts to make it fit you. I changed the grips, pedals and seat. I truly enjoy this bike, highly recommended.

Perfect bike for those who like it all

I sold my gravel bike because I just didn’t like the drop bars. I’m so happy with my purchase of this bike. It’s very light yet rides like a dream on gravel and hard packed roads. It’s quick and fun to ride. I really like how I can do it all with this bike.

First adult bike

Just picked up this bike almost a month ago and I’m in love. I was really undecided because I wasn’t sure which bike I wanted. This is my first real adult bike and I wanted a bike that could do it all but I didn’t want to spend a ton. I think I made the perfect decision, this bike can handle everything I throw at it and it’s fast! I’m really happy with it and think I made the right decision. I’m really looking forward to this season and really getting into the sport. I would like to do some bike packing this summer. Don’t hesitate, this is a fantastic do-it-all bike!

Very Nice Bicycle

But. I feel the paint job leaves a lot to be desired. Some then areas and developed a chip when nothing hit the spot. Also for this price range the shimano decore m5100 group set is a bit of a let down. Have had it back to shop for adjustments, but still takes several crank rotations 9 to 10 and will skip 9 occasionally. Exceptional handling, light in weight, 11 speed make this fun, yet practical bike to ride

Incredible bike!

I have some time spent riding a 2020 Sirrus X 4.0 and what I can tell you about my own experience is nothing short of amazing and eye opening. This bike with these specific tires are adept at quick zippy shorter road trips with the "speed strip" center. The nobs surrounding it are just enough to grip in almost all hard packed conditions I've ridden. Of course, this bike doesn't rail like a true mountain bike but it's plenty fast, light and comfortable for most well packed single track that doesn't have much in the way of roots. Even then, I have found my Sirrus to be MUCH more capable off-road in the types of single track trails here in Southern New Jersey. Having come from mountain bike riding this bike has kept my other bike in the shed. The ergonomics of the whole bike are just spectacular for me. I'm 5'10" and ride a Medium for reference. My first Specialized bike and I'm seriously impressed with whatever they did to create this marvelous machine! Thank you Specialized.

Great bike, with a few small caveats that can be fixed!

Purchased 2021 model fairly recently from my local dealer. Originally, put my name on the list for Sirrus X 3.0, but this bike came in first and was offered to me. I love that this bike comes with carbon fiber fork and Future Shock - will make it easier on my body going over bumpy trails in my neck of the woods. Overall, looking at older models, it does seem like Specialized has stripped features from lower models and raised prices on higher models. However, with market showing bike shortage, I cannot blame simple economics. Overall, the bike is very light. I am coming from a ""big store"" branded mountain bike that weighed a ton. This bike is very easy to ride. Concerns for cable rattle are real, there is indeed cable rattle when going over bumps. Will ask dealer to install foam insert when I bring it for a 30-day free checkup. No big deal and an easy fix. The complaints here about Shimano Deore derailleur are not necessarily true. After initial tune up, all the speed activate rapidly without a concern. SLX derailleur may be better and may be in my future when replacement is needed, but Deore works really well too. One of the speeds in the middle may not have a perfect match on derailleur position as it makes more sound (which I plan to work on fine tuning), but overall the gear changes are smooth and quick. I frankly don't know how to use all 11 speeds, I think my most common gears are between smallest (fastest) and maybe 5 others. If you are on the easiest gear, you should be climbing a very steep incline. I never have a need to go anywhere close to that even on steep driveway. The bike seems very well built. By no means is it a $5000-10,000 bike, but it is a great starter bike for an active lifestyle. I am able to run 10 miles without much of an issue. Would recommend Sirrus X 4.0 for a road, trail, and gravel enthusiast.

Decent ride, needs some upgrade

I've ridden the this bike for 4 months now, almost every day. It's a great rush to ride it. I do mostly city riding, so I did some upgrades and added metal fenders and a rear rack. Actually, I had the shop add those. Then I added a strong light to the front and back. I have some hand issues, so I upgraded the grips to Ergon GP 3L grips with bar ends. That made a huge difference comfort wise, and I can change my hand position. I bought the bike because it has front stem suspension. I guess that works. While I added the grips, I added a discreet rear-view mirror to the left hand grip to see traffic behind me on the city streets, the Hafney bar end bike mirror. That thing is great! I also added a bell and a cell phone holder. The seat on this bike sucks! I didn't want to say that, but I have ridden this multiple months and my butt still hurts. That's my next upgrade. Other than that, the only problem with this bike is that a couple of times while shifting, the chain has jumped off the front sprocket and will sit stuck between the sprocket and the guard. Annoying! All in all, I really like this bike. I would buy it again, but it is not perfect.

Great bike, but internal cable rattle needs to be dealt with

Love the bike! It's light, agile, rolls great with the tires, perfect for commuting! I just can't believe that Specialized left the internal cable routing with out attention. This bike is, after all, meant to be ridden also on trails and paths. The bike is advertised as: ""Sirrus X is your ticket to riding more, and to places you never imagined possible. It's a comfortable, capable, ""let's do stuff"" kind of bike that will inspire you to ride more than you ever have before."" Well, I did some stuff, and the first thing I noticed was the horrible cable rattle coming from the internal cable routing and the front fork. This, of course, while riding on trails, not in city commuting. Nevertheless, really annoying for this level of, not exactly cheap, bike. I had a Specialized Diverge before and never had issues with cable rattle, so I didn't even think that Sirrus X would be any different. Quick visit to a local bike shop did the trick. They inserted foam tubing over the cable inside the frame and the rattle is now almost completely gone. I hope Specialized deals with this issue with the newer versions of the bike line. As I said, great bike once the cable rattle is gone. The cable rattle issue was with 2020 model.
